WAREHOUSE FIND! This album was recorded at the peak of R&S Records' shall we say, 'intelligent' drum 'n' bass phase, when indeed many pioneering techno artists were turning their hand to creating or remixing cutting edge dnb tracs in what was then a highly influencial genre. To that edge, this project certainly gave Juan the space to experiment with some of these sounds and it has to be said, the resulting album proving quite successful. Immediate picks have to be tracs such as ‘Incredible’ and ‘Tipsy’, which would happily sit alongside some of those classic early Metalheadz recordings from the likes of Goldie, Doc Scott, J Majik and of course, 4 hero. In fact, the only trac possibly being instantly recognizable as the work of Juan is 'It's Time', tucked away at the close of the album, with Metroplex style synths and electro beats aplenty. A classic? No, but an album well worth checking for those who want to hear what Juan Atkins can really be capable of in addition to what we already know and love. Recommended.
